LAS VEGAS (KLAS) - President Trump announced on social media he is directing the Pentagon to restart nuclear weapons tests. It's been more than three decades since the U.S. carried out a nuclear test.
The president also cited his efforts to keep pace with other countries' nuclear programs.
The announcement followed a missile test by North Korea as well as a nuclear-powered test that Russia recently conducted.
"We have more nuclear weapons than anybody," President Trump said to reporters aboard Air Force One Thursday. "We don't do testing.
However, he did not share any other specifics and would not answer reporters' follow-up questions regarding the move, so many across Nevada still have questions.
