APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Festival Foods joined Minnesota-based dairy company Kemps to donate 30,000 shelf-stable “Giving Cow” milk cartons to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in an effort to help meet the need.
Food banks throughout the Midwest received more than 800,000 cartons in total as part of this effort.
Milk is one of the most requested items at food banks and also one of the least donated.
The cartons were delivered to the organization’s Appleton location on Thursday morning.
If stored properly, “Giving Cow” milk can be safely consumed for up to a year, whereas fresh milk typically only lasts around twenty days.
