SpaceX says it is entering a new phase in the development of Starship, the fully reusable spacecraft designed to return humans to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years under NASA’s Artemis program .

Eventually, the Starship will blast off from the Space Coast, possibly as soon as 2026.

The company announced Thursday that its ongoing test campaign and infrastructure expansion have positioned Starship to support lunar missions and, eventually, crewed flights to Mars.

“Humanity is at an inflection point,” SpaceX said in a statement. “For the first time, we possess the means, technology and will to establish a permanent human presence beyond Earth.”
