VANCEBORO, N.C. (WITN) - Law enforcement and deputies are continuing search and patrol efforts for the second night in a row for murder suspect Dominic Connelly.

Connelly, 24, is accused of killing his 72-year-old grandmother in Havelock on Saturday and stabbing a deputy in the leg on Wednesday at a fast-food restaurant at 380 Highway 43 in Vanceboro.

Sheriff Chip Hughes says the deputy was released from the hospital.

Connelly is currently wanted for murder, first-degree arson, and larceny of a motor vehicle.

He also now faces the additional charges of attempted first-degree murder, felony assault on law enforcement, causing serious injury and resisting a public officer.

Vanceboro schools were closed on Thursday as officials continued their search.
