VANCEBORO, N.C. (WITN) - The search for a man accused of murdering his grandmother and stabbing a deputy is entering a third day as the Halloween holiday arrives.

Schools are also facing another day of disruption as law enforcement searches for Dominic Connelly.

The 24-year-old has been on the run since this past Saturday when deputies discovered the man’s grandmother, 72-year-old Patricia Lopedote, dead inside her burned-down home outside Havelock.

Wednesday night, Connelly was confronted by a Craven County deputy inside a Vanceboro restaurant. That confrontation led to a struggle that officials say saw the deputy stabbed in the leg and Connelly taking off on foot.
