Pune, October 31, 2025: Traders from the city’s popular Tulsi Baug market have raised serious concerns over a growing number of thefts, many allegedly carried out by women, during weekends when the market sees heavy footfall. The issue was discussed during a meeting between the Pune City Police and representatives from various traders’ and hawkers’ associations, held at the Fergusson College Amphitheatre on Wednesday.

According to a police press release, patrolling by women police personnel in the Tulshibaug area will be increased to curb such incidents. Around 45 representatives from different sectors—including grocery, jewellery, timber, and hawkers—attended the meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale.
