MURRAY – Murray State University held its first-ever “topping out” ceremony Thursday to celebrate a major milestone in the construction of Jackson Hall, the new School of Nursing and Health Professions building expected to open for classes next fall.

The Kentucky General Assembly approved $45.5 million in funding for the construction of the new nursing school building during the 2023 legislative session, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held the following December at the site, which is across from Alexander Hall on North 16th Street. A year later, right as construction was getting started, the MSU Board of Regents voted at its December 2024 quarterly meeting to name the building in honor of then-President Dr. Bob Jackson and his wife, Karen.
