Sunil Gavaskar has promised to do a jamming session with Jemimah Rodrigues if India were to beat South Africa and win the 2025 Women’s World Cup in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. The former batting legend said if Rodrigues consents, he’d love to sing along while she plays her guitar, just like they did impromptu at a BCCI awards function in 2024, to celebrate the prospective historic achievement.

Gavaskar’s comments came a day after India beat defending champions and inarguably the best team in the world, Australia, in the semi-final on Thursday. Rodrigues top-scored with a stunning 126 not out, the highest individual score in an ODI chase for India, as the Women in Blue chased down 339, the highest ever in ODIs.
