The Prime Minister has refused to say whether he raised concerns with China’s President about his military’s dangerous interception of an Australian surveillance plane above the South China Sea earlier this month.

As he prepares to leave the APEC summit in South Korea this weekend, Anthony Albanese has also boasted of Australia’s diplomatic standing on the world stage, declaring “we punch above our weight in many ways”.

On Friday, the Prime Minister posted a photo of himself shaking hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with both leaders seen smiling in what he described as a “short, informal discussion”.
