We were into our eighth hour of a multi-legged flight when a fellow passenger refused to turn off his battery powered personal TV. This was years ago when the airlines were understandably hyper about anyone running anything in the plane that could interfere with the flight’s safety.
A steady stream of flight personnel warned him that he would be in big trouble if he didn’t comply. But his beloved football game’s outcome took priority over the entire plane’s safety and that of his family with whom he was traveling, including small children. Finally, the pilot came back, adding clout to the rules. But the passenger prevailed until we landed.
He was detained on the plane till everyone was off except my wife and our small kids who took some time to get their things together and deplane.
