BYRON CENTER, Mich. — Drivers should expect traffic slowdowns and lane closures as they head south of Grand Rapids on US 131 this weekend.
Southbound US 131 will close the left two lanes from 68th to 100th Street starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, through Saturday, Nov. 15.
This work is part of a two-year, $70 million improvement project rebuilding US 131 from 76th Street to 100th Street in Byron Township.
The Michigan Department of Transportation said this work will extend the 76th Street on ramp to the 84th Street off ramp on southbound US-131 and extend the 84th Street on ramp to the 76th Street off ramp on northbound US-131.
Initial work began in May 2024.
"Setting up traffic control last season allows MDOT to keep two lanes open for northbound US-131 and two lanes open on south
