The Witcher books are a hugely popular series of fantasy novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, but approaching them as a new reader can be a bit discouraging. Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher has naturally driven up interest in these fantasy novels. However, the fact that there are several books and drastically different publication orders and chronologies makes the whole thing a bit intimidating.
Sapkowski's The Witcher series is made up of two collections of short stories, five central novels, and two standalone novels. They were initially published in Polish in a specific order, and then translated to English in another order entirely. To make things even more complicated, Sapkowski developed the adventures of the Continent by jumping around the chronology
