Auburn basketball ended its preseason on a high note, defeating Memphis 100-71 Thursday night.
Now preparing for Monday’s season opener at Neville Arena against Bethune-Cookman, the Tigers displayed how they could look at peak form against Memphis.
Auburn coach Steven Pearl emphasized the need for more defensive intensity, and his team responded by finishing with 13 steals and forcing 23 total turnovers against Memphis.
The Tigers turned those turnovers into 33 points, as Auburn shot 52% from the floor as a team.
“We were just solid and they continuously just kind of coughed it up,” Pearl said postgame. “I told our guys if you don’t gamble, if you stay solid, if you stay in gaps, they will give it up. And sure enough, they did.”
Keyshawn Hall was the leading scorer for Auburn with 20
