ATLANTA — The jump from Auburn basketball 's first exhibition to its second was certainly significant.
After losing in overtime to Oklahoma State on Oct. 15, the Tigers played their final preseason contest Thursday, Oct. 30, and walked away trouncing a defending conference champion, beating Memphis 100-71 at State Farm Arena.
The defensive woes that troubled Auburn against the Cowboys looked largely nonexistent, and its offense gave a glimpse of what it could be at full potential. The games that matter haven't even been played yet. But what's certain is that, for another season, Auburn appears to have the pieces needed to play winning basketball, and that'll be vital for Year 1 under a new head coach.
