BURLINGTON, Conn — Down a small dirt road in Burlington, you may come across an old abandoned cemetery. Many of the headstones at Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery have been destroyed or vandalized, including the grave of Elisabeth Palmiter, also known as the Green Lady.
Legend has it that her spirit can be seen in a green haze on a damp and foggy night. And if you’re lucky, she’ll shoot you a grin before she disappears.
"We believe that the stone that was desecrated on her grave is actually located a little bit away from that actual spot, where we've put up a stone," said Burlington Historical Society President Stacy Glastri.
Glastri and Burlington Historical Society member James Sanford took FOX61 to the Green Lady’s resting place.
They say this urban legend started as a tragic romance.
