A 25-year-old Kabaddi player, identified as Tejpal Singh, was shot dead in Jagraon town of Punjab’s Ludhiana district Friday.
Tejpal, a native of Giddarwindi village near Jagraon, was shot dead on Hari Singh Hospital Road near the office of Ludhiana Rural senior superintendent of police (SSP).
Ankur Gupta, SSP, Ludhiana Rural, said three to four assailants, who were in a white Swift car, opened fire at Tejpal Singh at around 3 pm. Gupta said Tejpal was rushed to a hospital after a bullet hit him, but he was declared “dead on arrival”.
“Prima facie, it is a case of personal rivalry. The accused and the victim had some fights in the past, but they did not inform the police,” said Gupta.
He added that two suspects have been identified as Honey and Kala, both from Roomi village of Jagr
