Community Health Systems announced Thursday an agreement to sell its 80 percent ownership in Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for $600 million.
The sale includes ancillary businesses located in Clarksville.
According to a CHS release, VUMC currently holds a minority ownership interest in the joint ventures and will gain the remaining ownership interests through the sale.
The transaction is expected to close in early 2026, with the acquisition to mark VUMC’s fourth regional hospital expansion.
The 270-bed Tennova Healthcare is Clarksville’s only hospital. However, competition is on the way as both Ascension Saint Thomas and TriStar Health, an HCA Healthcare affiliate, both have the official greenlight to build hospitals in the area.
