Elderly woman Mangala had gone to RA Studio with her granddaughter for an audition.

An elderly woman named Mangala Patankar shared several details about the accused who took 19 people, including 17 children, hostage at RA Studio in Powai, Mumbai, on Thursday. She had gone there with her granddaughter for an audition.

While the police were working outside to rescue the children safely, Mangala also played a key role in saving them. She sustained injuries on her head from glass shards and is currently hospitalised.

Recounting the incident, she said that the accused, Rohit, first left a few children with her and took the rest upstairs. After some time, he asked her to come upstairs with the remaining children.
