The Government has addressed calls for greater restrictions on the use of fireworks, saying legislation on their use should be "kept up to date".
As Bonfire Night approaches next week, Labour MP Alex Mayer has suggested the use of fireworks should be restricted to certain weekends in order to reduce disruption caused to be both animals and people from their use.
Under current laws it is illegal to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am throughout the year, but on Bonfire Night the law changes slightly making it legal to set off fireworks between 7am until 12am.
However, MP for Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, Alex Mayer, has now also suggested that a specific weekend should be designated for fireworks around Bonfire Night, to reduce disruption caused by the attraction
