A man was taken to hospital after he was rescued from the River Irwell in Salford this afternoon. Firefighters had rescued the man moments earlier.
The drama happened near Langley Road in Salford shortly before 2pm on Friday, prompting a huge response from the emergency services. Police, fire crews, paramedics and an air ambulance were all scrambled to the scene.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Just before 2pm this afternoon (Friday 31 October) we received reports of a person in water near to Langley Road, Swinton .
"Crews from Agecroft and Broughton, together with the water incident team from Eccles and the enhanced rescue unit from Leigh, were quickly in attendance. View 2 Images
