Gov. Jeff Landry was not involved with LSU's decision to part ways with athletic director Scott Woodward , LSU Board of Supervisors chairman Scott Ballard said in a press conference on Friday.
"The governor is worried about the state of Louisiana," Ballard said. "His concern had to do with the state contract. The LSU Board of Supervisors and Mr. Woodward decided jointly to part ways."
In a press conference on Wednesday, Landry was extremely critical of Woodward, stating that he'd rather have Donald Trump choose the next LSU head football coach than allow Woodward to do so.
"No. I can tell you right now, Scott Woodward is not selecting the next coach," Landry said.
Landry's critique came just days after LSU decided to fire football coach Brian Kelly on Sunday, less than 24 hours
