Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha has received a complaint from the parent of a Smithfield student that accuses other students of assaulting and harassing him based on his "Jewish ancestry/ethnicity" and religion in a high school locker room before a practice on Sept. 30 , according to correspondence between Neronha himself and a lawyer for the school district.

The parent's complaint also accuses the district of failing to appropriately respond to antisemitic discrimination and to bullying, according to the notification that Neronha sent to the lawyer, Attorney Sean Clough, on Thursday, Oct. 30.
