Halloween trick-or-treaters will face strong winds on Friday afternoon and evening with gusts up to 50 mph, but the forecast looks dry for much of New Jersey .
A wind advisory remains in effect until midnight for the entire state.
The powerful winds are the result of a strong storm system moving northeastward away from the region.
Peak winds are expected from mid to late afternoon, with sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph.
The strongest winds will occur in northern New Jersey and coastal areas, where gusts could reach 50 mph.
