Multiple varieties of fresh peaches that were sold at retailers across the U.S. have been recalled for possible listeria contamination.

Specifically, the recall affects yellow and white peaches sold by Moonlight Companies, which includes some yellow peaches sold under the Kroger brand name, according to an alert on the Food and Drug Administration website.

The recall was initiated after Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria that cause listeria infections , was discovered in a Moonlight packaging facility.
