SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office said it has launched a civil investigation into the Smithfield High School hazing incident.
The letter said a parent made the complaint, alleging several students "assaulted and harassed" their child in the locker room before football practice on Sept. 30.
Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island CEO Adam Greenman said his organization was told that several football players barricaded a freshman student in a stall, doused him with a spray bottle and shouted antisemitic slurs at him.
According to the letter obtained by 12 News, the complaint also accuses the school district of not taking the steps to "eliminate any hostile environment and its effects and prevent harassment from recurring."
