EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Road signs in the Evansville area were apparently hijacked overnight, causing some drivers to spot bizarre messages instead of legitimate traffic alerts.
Numerous Indiana Department of Transportation signs were taken over along the Lloyd Expressway, Highway 41, and I-69, with different messages displayed.
Photos of the signs shared with 44News show that some of the messages included things like "ZOMBIE CROSSING", "SPEED LIMIT 6 7", and "SORRY LOL".
44News reached out to INDOT for a statement on the matter. They say they're aware of the illegitimate messages and are working to remove them.
