EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Several digital signs in Evansville area construction zones appeared to have been changed overnight by hijackers.

One of the signs was on Morgan Avenue near Theatre Drive.

It wished drivers a Happy Halloween.

Other signs in different areas have been shared on social media.

Some claimed the speed limit was “6-7″, while another claimed “AI did this.”

Some of the signs were in Indiana Department of Transportation’s construction zones.

We reached out to Gary Brian with INDOT, who shared a statement:

“INDOT is aware of the messages on the digital signs and is working to remove them. Only messages related to traffic and road conditions are allowed on these signs.”

There’s no word on who is to blame for the changes.
