CBS News is pushing back against reports that longtime anchor Gayle King plans to exit “CBS Mornings” when her contract expires next year.

A Variety report published Thursday claimed King, 70, would leave the morning program in May 2026 at the end of her current contract. The publication cited four unnamed sources who suggested King might transition to “a different role” within the news division or “potentially produce her own programming” for the network.

However, a CBS News spokesperson firmly denied to People later on Thursday that these claims aren’t true.

“There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026,” the spokesperson said. “She’s a truly valued part of CBS and we look forward to engaging with her about the future.”
