ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - United Airlines is heading back to Cenla, as Alexandria International Airport (AEX) is announcing the return of the airline at a news conference on Oct. 31.

Starting in May 2026, flyers coming from AEX can travel to Houston, Texas through United Airlines. In June 2022, United suspended its services to the Alexandria International Airport.

United, in a previous statement, responded to suspending services and said that, “United makes regular adjustments to its schedule in response to market demand and staffing resources to ensure we can best serve our customers.”

Now, with United heading back to Alexandria, leaders say this will bring more local dollars for the Cenla economy.

“Air service is critical to economic development in the community,” said Ralph Hennessy
