SUMTER, S.C. — Sumter Police are warning parents to be watchful of the candy their children receive on Halloween following a report of sharp objects allegedly found in some local candy.

The police department stated that its officers are investigating after a Halloween event on Thursday, during which a family reported that some pieces of candy they had received appeared to have been tampered with.

Police stated that they didn't have any additional information to provide at the time. However, they took the opportunity to warn parents to take precautions and inspect the candy their children receive during door-to-door Trick-or-Treating or at organized events.
