(Bismarck, ND) — Weather officials say dozens of newly installed weather stations in central and western North Dakota should prevent flooding incidents. Specifically flooding incidents similar to what the Bismarck-Mandan area experienced in 2011. The Fargo-based North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network completed its over six-million dollar effort to install and upgrade 85 weather stations across the state in late September. NDAWN was awarded the money in 2020 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as part of a five-state, 40 million dollar plan to improve monitoring in the Upper Missouri River Basin.
