CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said that a Cherokee County man was arrested after he sent multiple threats to a person over email due to their political opinions.

On Tuesday October 28, 52-year-old Robert Dean Upchurch of Cherokee County was arrested and charged with unlawful communications, intimidation due to political opinions, and stalking.

Warrants said threats began around August 14. Upchurch sent three emails to the victim, who lives in Orangeburg County, threatening to kill the victim and others like them. One of the emails said "I'm going to bring you down to the lowest u have ever been, bet on it all the while ill remain behind the scences or become famous."
