The DVSA has announced a significant update regarding MOT testing procedures. The department is extending a trial of new anti-fraud measures, requiring testers to photograph vehicles undergoing their MOT for upload to the digital MOT Testing Service.

The aim of capturing these images is to provide evidence that the vehicle has genuinely attended the garage, helping to eliminate 'ghost MOTs' where certificates are issued without the car actually completing its annual inspection. An initial trial saw 170 MOT testers across 62 garages photographing cars and other vehicles using mobile phones or tablets.
