WASHINGTON — Today is Halloween , a time for candy, costumes and sugar-fueled celebrations. But as many prepare to enjoy the holiday, one longtime candy distributor is navigating financial turmoil.

Just ahead of Halloween, CandyWarehouse.com, a Texas-based online candy distributor, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

According to federal court documents cited by USA TODAY and TODAY , CandyWarehouse.com, Inc. filed Oct. 24 in the Northern District of Texas, listing between $100,000 and $500,000 in assets against $1 million to $10 million in liabilities.

Founded in 1998 and based in Sugar Land, Texas, the woman-owned family business supplies candy to both consumers and commercial clients like hospitals, hotels and theme parks.
