COLUMBIA, S.C. — In August 2025, South Carolina Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC Housing) announced a new program aimed at recruiting home builders in the state to commit to constructing affordable workplace housing in an effort to reduce the housing crisis in South Carolina.

On October 31, 2025, SC Housing announced the first five builders to be help launch the Made It Home! Program with the commitment to build the first suite of 130 homes. The builders are:

D.R. Horton – 40 homes

Gainey Construction Co. – 15 homes

Housing Development Corporation of Rock Hill – 15 homes

McGuinn Homes – 45 homes

Oak and Ave Property Group – 15 homes

Although site selections are still underway, several counties -- including Richland, Orangeburg, Dorchester, Florence, Darlington, Sparta
