MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A former Monroe County Sheriff's Office correctional officer has been accused of introducing contraband into a penal facility.
Just after 1 p.m. Friday, Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones shared that Michael Phillip Zackey, 39, of Madisonville was charged with introducing contraband into a penal facility. Jones referred to Zackey as a former correctional officer.
An arrest warrant was issued for Zackey, however, he voluntarily turned himself in at the Monroe County Jail Friday morning, Jones said. After Zackey was processed, he was released on bond.
Jones said additional information will be released at a later time.
