BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The annual HIRE celebration luncheon was held Thursday which is aimed at celebrating workers with disabilities as well as their employers.
The HIRE committee was founded by late Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall in 2005 and is made up by organizations like the Kern County Department of Human Services, Kern High School District and Kern County Libraries.
The luncheon took place at Hodel's Country Dining and was emceed by 17's Kevin Charette. Mayor Karen Goh also attended to celebrate these workers.
An organizer with the event, Denise Crawford said, "We just had a speaker in there that spoke about his journey to employment and all the things that he's learned along the way and I think that just shows us all how it's so much more of a challenge when somebody has a
