Shillong, Oct 31: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma defended the state government's decision to host festivals, including the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, citing impressive returns on investment.
He revealed that the government earned over Rs 130 crore from an investment of around Rs 20 crore during last year’s festival, highlighting the economic benefits.
“Roughly about Rs 20 crore was spent, and we managed to get a return of almost Rs 130 crore. These numbers show that concerts and festival-related economies are productive, create jobs, and enhance the brand value of the state,” Sangma told reporters on Friday.
