YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)- Youngstown State University released its stance Friday on SOBE Thermal Energy Systems.

YSU President Bill Johnson announced in a press release that the university can not be considered as a viable option for heating downtown, adding that the decision was based on "significant technical, infrastructure, financial and operational realities."

Johnson said that YSU would be required to make significant, costly modifications, in the millions of dollars, to the university's boiler plant configuration. He also said that YSU is not a public utility provider, so it does not have the authority to function and serve the city.
