The pair were married in 2003 and share a son, who was born in 2013. The band was pivotal in the rise of Montreal as an indie music world capital during the 2000s. A year after Butler and Chassagne got married, Arcade Fire released their breakthrough debut album, Funeral. Arcade Fire won the Grammy for best album in 2011 for The Suburbs.
They made the announcement on the group’s social media accounts .
“After a long and loving marriage, Win and Régine have decided to separate,” the post read. “They continue to love, admire and support each other as they co-parent their son.
