October was an exceptionally mild month for most of the country. The only place that saw any notable cool weather was the West Coast, where California and Oregon averaged temperatures about 1–4°F below normal.

It appears that, at least for the start of November, we’ll continue the overall mild pattern. Temperatures next week are forecast to be well above normal for much of the central and western U.S., with cooler conditions confined to the East Coast and Florida.

The jet stream will be riding high into southern Canada much of next week. That keeps warmer air in place across the Lower 48 and pushes most weather systems north as well.
