AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - The Westside Bowl in Youngstown is serving up help for anyone about to lose a paycheck or SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown.
Starting Sunday, "Pay it Forward Pizza" returns. It started during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the eatery gave away 10,000 free pizzas to anyone who needed one -- all through donations.
The owners said now was the perfect time to bring the idea back, and they are putting up the cash for the first 100 pizzas themselves.
"Number one, to help folks who need it. Number two, to give folks who have the ability to help other folks a way to facilitate that generosity, to give them a sense of some agency to be able to help folks who need it, said Nthan Offerdahl, co-owner of West Side Bowl.
