Spokane Valley firefighters rescued two pets from the house during the fire response.
They confirmed that the fire was reported at 10:35 a.m. and crews arrived at the scene at 10:39 a.m. By 10:58 a.m., crews had knocked down the fire.
There was no one in the home during the fire, just the two pets. The pets were rescued safely and sent to SCRAPS until the owners can pick them back up.
No one was injured in the fire, according to Patterson.
The Spokane Valley Fire Department wanted to remind people to practice responsible heating and avoid space heaters plugged into extension chords and surge protectors.

East 9th Avenue is closed near the fire, according to Travis Patterson with the Spokane Valley Fire Department
