LIBERTY, Ill. (WGEM) - Liberty High School teacher Sara Reichert was awarded the WGEM Golden Apple Award.

Reichert says she feels at home in the classroom in Liberty, Illinois.

“This really is home. I love the kids here. I love the people here. And, this is my happy place. I look forward to coming to school everyday,” Reichert said.

After more than a decade teaching in another TriState school, Reichert returned to the classrooms of her alma mater to continue her career. She’s now in her 25th year teaching.

“I’ve been doing this longer than my students have been alive,” Reichert laughed.

One of those students, junior Zoey Kasparie, nominated her for the Golden Apple Award. She says Reichert helped her navigate her high school math struggles.
