PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Peoria police are investigating after a man was allegedly pistol-whipped early Friday morning.
At approximately 3:46 a.m., officers went to the 800 block of West Hurlburt Street after receiving an eight-round ShotSpotter alert, said Peoria police spokesperson Semone Roth.
While on their way, officers saw a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and then pull into a parking lot of a local hospital. Inside the vehicle, officers found a 23-year-old man suffering from a head injury.
Roth said the man had been struck multiple times in the head with a firearm. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
