BOROUGHWIDE — The Brooklyn Public Library is turning homes into mini-galleries with a new art-lending program, allowing cardholders to borrow real artworks for three weeks, reports Time Out . The initiative debuts alongside “Department of Transformation: Letters for the Future,” an expansive exhibition opening Nov. 3 at the Central Branch. About 20 pieces from artists like Asad Raza and Ilana Harris-Babou will be available for checkout, in a revival of a 1970s pilot program.
The library calls it “a radical proposal” to make art accessible to everyone, and is seeking feedback from borrowers.
