BOSTON —
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Boston University hosted its 18th annual pumpkin drop Friday afternoon, during which students hurl more than 40 stuffed pumpkins 70 feet off the roof of the Metcalf Science Center to the plaza below.
The pumpkins were stuffed with gooey fillings from paint to whipped cream.
The physics department hosted the event, providing lessons in gravitation, velocity and energy transition from potential to kinetic to explosion.
Sky5 was over the scene to get a firsthand look at the gravity lessons.
All pumpkins were composted after the event by BU Sustainability.
Representatives from the Technical University of Dortmund were also in attendance.
