NEWTON, Mass. —
A Star Market in Newton, Massachusetts, has reopened days after demolition work in a stockroom caused an asbestos scare in the store .
According to Newton's Health and Human Services Department, the area of the stockroom where asbestos-containing material was found has been completely sealed and contained.
The stockroom was in an area that was not accessible to the public.
Health officials took air samples in multiple locations in the store. A spokesperson for the city of Newton says the air is well below clearance levels for asbestos.
Similarly, surface samples taken around the store did not detect any asbestos, according to the Health and Human Services Department.
The store at 33 Austin St. officially reopened as of 10 a.m. Friday.
