CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - History for the City of Charlotte as leaders on Friday announced that they have decided on who would lead the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department .
Officials on Friday, Oct. 31, announced that Estella Patterson would be the next chief for Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, making her the first female chief in the city’s history.
Patterson is leaving the Raleigh Police Department to return to her roots and lead the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Her colleagues from her time in Raleigh and here in Charlotte, say Patterson has always had a passion for protecting her community. They’re excited to see what changes she’ll bring to her old department.
