Firefighters rescued two people from a second-floor balcony Friday morning as flames spread through an apartment complex in Beaverton, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said.

At just after 6:30 a.m., multiple calls to 911 reported smoke and fire at a 2-story building in the 5800 block of Southwest Erickson Avenue, officials said. Firefighters arrived to find “heavy smoke and flames coming out of a first-floor unit.” They attacked the flames and searched the apartment, confirming no one was in there.

Firefighters discovered two people trapped on a second-floor balcony at the back of the building and brought them down to safety, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
